What a Pearl Costs Now

Ocean temperatures moved, harvests tightened, and pearl pricing stopped feeling predictable. What we buy now, and what we wait on.

What a Pearl Costs Now

Warmer water, tighter harvests, an aging generation of farmers. The quiet machinery behind a good pearl has been under pressure for several seasons, and pricing has stopped feeling predictable.

We will not tell you that pearls have simply become expensive, because that is not how this market moves. Quality pearl pricing is volatile, and we buy around it. Origin by origin, luster before size, timing before habit.

Luster is the honest number.

Baroque beside round

What we buy now. Baroque shapes with strong luster, small rounds from farms we know, and pearl and chain pieces where the design carries value alongside the pearl. What we wait on. Oversized perfect rounds at record asks, matched strands priced for their past, and anything whose luster does not survive a window seat.

A smaller pearl that holds light will outlive a larger one that merely reflects it, in the mirror and on the receipt.
